I Took Activist Skincare’s Skin Quiz – Here’s What I Learned About “Low-Waste” Skin Goals

Tired of quizzes that end in a 10-step routine you’ll never use? Activist Skincare quiz promised something different.

As I embrace my ‘certain age’ era with zero apologies, my skincare routine keeps evolving right along with me. My skin has become a bit of a moving target lately – more reactive here, drier there – which makes the idea of a tailored routine feel more appealing than a one-size-fits-all shelf. So when a brand offers to cut through the noise and help me figure out what my skin actually needs now, I’m listening.

That’s exactly what ACTIVIST Skincare promises with its online skin quiz, so I took it for a spin to see if the results actually match what my face is telling me in the mirror. Honestly, I was expecting a long, drawn-out process, but to my surprise, the skin quiz is the absolute opposite. With minimal questions about age, skin descriptions, and concerns (such as dullness, dark spots, and loss of firmness), and your overall goal (acne reduction, reducing overall signs of aging, or brighter skin), I got my results.

It makes sense ACTIVIST’s skin quiz is minimal, given the brand’s dedication to clean, minimal ingredients – meaning you don’t need a lot to take care of your skin. The woman-owned skincare brand chooses clean, safe ingredients for its handmade products in California – “skincare for ingredient snobs,” they tout. All products are 100% vegan (except for their Sunscreen, which contains responsibly sourced organic beeswax), and they carefully and intentionally source from different suppliers who meet their quality, ethics, and sustainability standards.

What makes it feel very Wearing-coded is the sustainability layer built into the recommendations. In addition to their non-toxic ingredients, ACTIVIST packages its products in glass bottles that can be refilled using lightweight pouches—cutting packaging waste and shipping emissions compared to buying a new bottle every time.

If you’re commitment-shy, grab their Discover Trial Kit, which lets you test all 7 products so you can easily create your own custom regimen to see what works for you. The Trial Kit includes three cleansers, two serums, one toning mist, and one face oil. Each item promises to last three weeks. And, the refillable minis double as future travel bottles if you decide to stick with the line. Plus, a free $25 gift card makes it all the more reassuring and rewarding.

The overall effect is less “fix your face” and more “get clear on what your skin needs – and what your conscience needs.” For anyone trying to simplify their routine, buy less but better, and support a small, sustainably-minded brand, taking about a minute to do ACTIVIST’s skin quiz feels like a no-brainer. And, if it leads to a routine that’s kinder to your skin and to your recycling bin, that’s the kind of beauty math we can get behind.

So, what did ACTIVIST recommend for my skin quiz results? The Damage Reversal Deluxe Set for hydration, environmental pollution, and repair.

Hey, I said ‘zero apologies,’ remember?
