If you are in New York this week, we highly recommend you visit the Leica Gallery in the Meatpacking District from April 24th through the 27th to experience the re:FRAME exhibit.

The special show features work from famed fashion photographer Enrique Badulescu and sustainability advocate Marina Testino, and is inspired by the waste crisis in Chile’s Atacama Desert, where over 39,000 tons of clothing are dumped yearly.

With gorgeous, stunning photographs, re:FRAME calls out the ugly side of fashion but not in a shame on you fashion lover kind of way. The exhibit showcases the intention of being more mindful about fashion’s relationship to the planet, and how we can make better choices about what we purchase, how it’s made, and the lifecycle of each piece.

“It’s about awareness, expression, and action,” Testino explained to Harper’s Bazaar. “We’re showing that fashion can still be beautiful, but also conscious. It can inspire, without costing the planet. It’s an invitation to pause, reflect, and reframe the way we produce, consume, and value clothing.”
